our new neighbors are as noisy as a flock of geese.
...Actually, there are geese. And I believe they are nesting. I have named them Phil and Millie. There is one that sits in the same spot all the time and the other one stands around and looks about all day. They have been here for about a week and I think Connel and I even heard them um, well, I think we think we know when the little ones were...um... concieved... :) Yes... we heard them mating. And now we hear them honking away all the dang time, even in the middle of the night. I looked up the nesting habits of Canadian Geese and they are showing all the signs that they're PREGNANT (or shall we say NESTING)! Awwww! I think it is so regal of the male goose (gander) to stand around all day and look about just ready and rarin' for someone to come around and mess with his little family to be. I guess he will put up a pretty big fight before he lets anyone near the nesting female. He's such a good protector! Hopefully we will be able to soon see some little goslings. From what I have read it should be about 24-28 days from when they first start nesting, so in about say...3-3 1/2 weeks, I may see some little baby Canadian Honkers!

hee hee,That is awesome that you looked up the mating habits of geese..if I ever have any questions about geese...I know who to ask. Be sure to take some pictures of their babies!
at least it is geese your hearing :) ha ha! when we lived in Indiana there were 2 ducks that were ALWAYS under our car every morning, I always wondered why they picked ours. Wouldn't it be nice if after 3 1/2 weeks we could be done being pregnant? I wish!!
Laura-I am so glad you left a comment on my blog! I have been reading your for a while now, ever since I saw the link from Terra's, but I have been too embarassed to say anything! I actually have some digital scrapbooking questions for you...so we will talk at church! BTW, I am glad you are finding something positive in the geese, because I do not care for them at all! :)
Hi Laura, I just found your blog from my sister. Cute! My husband and I need to follow your example and embrase our geese. We live on a lake and HATE them--Keith shoots fireworks at them everytime they come into our yard.
Anyway, it was fun getting to know you better last night.
Tooo funny! My boys would love seeing the geese! I love that you looked up the mating info!
Where are you guys living now? Last I heard you were our replacements at Aspen Village. How did that go? Randy and I are living near Columbus, Ohio. Good to hear from you.
So did they ever have their babies?
