uh-oh!

A few weeks ago I was making dinner and you were playing in the kitchen.  I opened the fridge and you came over to get a container out of the fridge door.  Seeing it was plastic, I didn't think anything of it and let you play with it.  A few minutes later Daddy walked in the door and the first thing I heard him do was laugh and say "Uh-oh!...Laura, did you know Hannah had the parmesan cheese?"  I came into the living room to see you had opened it, and poured out the whole container of cheese onto the floor!  Thank goodness for vacuums!

twenty eight years.

I'm now twenty eight years old.  I'm feeling old.  I'm finding more and more gray hairs...seriously though, I am.  You might even be able to see them in this picture.  But... don't tell me if you do...

For my birthday, my husband took me on a date!!!!!!!  That was the highlight, I have to say.  We don't get way too many dates that often anymore and before kids, it's kind of like a perma-date!  Haha!    Anyway, I often miss our alone time and so it's nice to get out and go on a date together! Our good friends took the kiddo and then went to an awesome Thai restaurant, with no wait, but that's because we got the last table there!  I ordered a crab plate as an appetizer.  I thought was going to be something similar to crab rangoon...but it turned out to be a little mini crabs fried insides.  It came out on the tray intact and it looked just like a spider to me.  I tried it, but I just couldn't bring myself to eat more than a few bites!  We did get our favorite, Pad Thai.   And scarfed it, of course.  After our date we went to our friends house and played games and talked until the wee hours of the morn.  I love game nights!!!

The Sunday, THE actual birthday, we got to GO to church TO-GETH-ER!  Aaaannnd he delegated others to do some of his after church responsibilities. So, I got to take a nap and Connel made a delicious meal of salmon, rice pilaf and veggies.  Grilled.  Mmmmm.  We skyped with my fam, and hung around the house, it was perfect!

Oh and the day before, Connel and Hannah gave me a birthday present...some new workout clothes, which I have been needing/wanting!  Surprisingly and excitingly, Connel chose the right size and the pants fit perfectly!  But I won't be sad if they seem to get larger over time...if you know what I mean. ;)

vday 2011.

This year we went all out and decided to go to Hawaii for Valentine's Day!  Oh, actually, no.

Dontcha wish it was true?  I do.  Oh well, maybe like...never? :)

We decided to make it simple and low key.  It was grand!  With an overstudied husband and an overtired Mommy, we made ourselves a nice and simple Valentine's day.  The hubby surprised me with a Valentine favorite...Chocolate covered strawberries!  Mmmm!  Hannah liked 'em too! But what girl doesn't love a little chocolate covered sugar coated fruit?  He actually gave them to me the night before Valentine's day.

Hubby actually did his V-day surprise in the classic "hubby style".  Flowers for me, a chocolate rose and a lollipop for Hannah, and she exchanged with him a homemade art heart.  Which was the cutest valentine exchange I have ever seen!  He gave me a lollipop heart ring, trying to reenact the "first" time he gave be one when he first asked me to marry him.  It was terrrrrribly romanteeeek!

I had all sorts of plans for doing the "7 days of Valentine's".  I even had a list which included making a homemade cherry pie using this pie crust recipe, ironing all 728 of his shirts (not really, but it seems that way when you hate to iron!), and I REALLY wanted to make these lovely cookies.  Are they not the most risque cookies you've ever seen?  However, my lazy side gave in and I bagged the 7 days of valentines after day one and ended up doing an extremely romantic lady and the tramp style homemade candle-lit spaghetti dinner.  Child included.

After the kiddo was snug in bed, we pulled our mattress to the livingroom for a showing of Love Potion #9.  Which was NOT the best ever.  Sooooo.... Never again will that show grace our television.

Happy very late Valentine's Day!
